Jackets to Transition into Spring

It’s hard to know what to wear when you’re heading out the door in Spring. One morning it might be snowing and the next might be the most idyllic Spring day. For those sunny spring days we all love, our ambassadors Jamie of Mommy in Flats, Ruth of My Little Nest and Mary of Real Girls Realm , know the perfect jackets to wear and just how to style them. Check out Jamie’s blog post with tips below!tara jacketThere was snow in the forecast for this weekend. Thank goodness mother nature wizened up and realized this is just not the time for that. That said, the days are still a little chilly. While we’re waiting for the sun to make it’s full blazing appearance, jackets are a great way to add warmth and style to Spring fashion.

I especially like the Tara Jacket by Aventura because it’s lightweight and structured. It cinches in the waist to give you a little definition- a feminine twist on a utility jacket. A jacket is the perfect way to break out those summer dresses and is a slightly dressier option (especially this Verona jacket) than my go to oversized cardi. A good jacket is an investment that will stay in your closet year after year, so don’t be afraid to splurge, just make sure it’s a flattering classic style in a neutral color. With consumers becoming more eco-conscious when it comes to fashion, it’s really important to shop with sustainable brands (check out the Aventura tags to see that their pieces are made with organic materials and fair trade business practices). The more I shop small, local, and sustainable, the more I learn the difference between those pieces and those from fast fashion.

Okay now to get off my soap box and share with you some tips for dressing in this transitional weather. Don’t forget to scroll down to check out how my friends are wearing their favorite jackets this spring). Layers. Spring is all about the layers. It’s not out of the question for you to be hot in the bright sun and freezing in a little shade. The same goes for cool mornings/evenings and warm Spring afternoons. Adding a jacket to a short sleeved or sleeveless top helps keep up with the shifting temperatures. A jacket can take the typical momiform (mine is jeans and a tee) from drab to fab. Add a pair of heels and you’ve dressed up your basic outfit and kept yourself warm.

Bonus Tip: Use a shorter jacket to add shape to a longer A-line tunic. Breaking up the straight line adds length to your torso which is good for all shapes from petite to pear.

Flirty Details. After long winter months of covering every inch of available skin (or shivering in your booties), it’s time to reintroduce fun details like the Carina Tank. I love the contrast of the ribbed body with the ultra light delicate lace yoke.

Bonus Tip: For a twist (no pun intended;) on a basic outfit, tie your tee in a knot before you throw on your jacket.I teamed up with some of my blogger friends to show you other ways to dress up your Spring look with an amazing Aventura Jacket.
