Summer Road Trip Series: Blue Ridge Parkway

Ambassador Tara Schatz recently celebrated summer with a trip to the famed Blue Ridge Parkway! “Learning to pack effectively and economically for road trips is no easy feat, especially if your itinerary includes long days in the car, hiking with dogs, downtown dining, and evenings ‘round a campfire. No matter how light I try to pack, my car is almost always full, and space for clothing is severely limited. I love my Aventura pieces because they look good straight out of my suitcase, and can take me from car, to hiking trail, to restaurant, without a second thought.” For more drool-worthy photos, check out Tara’s Instagram!

“We hiked the Rough Ridge Trail in Blowing Rock, NC, but the view was shrouded in fog. The Dharma Tank was perfect for a day of hiking.”

“Marby Mill is located at milepost 176 on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. It is one of the most photographed sites on the parkway.”

“Another day on the trail – wearing the Veleta Tank in burnt coral.”

“The view of the Blue Ridge Mountains from North Carolina’s first tourist attraction – the Blowing Rock.” The immense cliff is 4,000 feet above sea level, overhanging Johns River Gorge 3,000 feet below. The Blowing Rock is so called because the rocky walls of the gorge form a flume through which the northwest wind sweeps with such force that it returns light objects cast over the void.

“Catching the sunset with my favorite travel companion at Moses H. Cone Memorial Park in Blowing Rock, NC.”
